Bourbon coffee beans are a sub-species of the gourmet coffee plant known as Arabica. Bourbon is known to be a type of high-quality Arabica varietal whose origin is from the island of Reunion (formerly Bourbon), located in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Africa. It’s best grown on mountains above 1,100 and up to 2,000 meters above sea level – which qualify as either High Grown or Strictly High Grown (SHG). We source Bourbon from the Santa Leticia Finca, high in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec Mountains in the Northwest corner of El Salvador (near Guatemala).

El Salvador is a large, well-known producer of Bourbon coffees. It’s sweet, complex and delicate flavour makes it the coffee of coffees. The plants are fragile and don’t produce as much cherry as some other varieties, but the characteristics of a Bourbon type variety are lush and classic, has low body, well balanced and typically sweet profile that tends to lend itself well to espresso-based coffees.

Medium body coffee with caramel sweetness and notes of honey, nuts, and stone fruit. Enjoy black or with a touch of milk.
